the issue is you have a big opportunity to blow this out with some press event that's going to occur should you grab that press attention or should you clean this up a little bit and then what is your true business here because this is just a this is just a marketing program you have what's your true business
you have a great idea your site design not so great your logo for the GI thing looks kind of amateurish i rated a six maybe a five could be a ten with another two weeks of work
the closer the the viral idea is to your core product the better like with Cy the customers we gained from czechy were really valuable customers um because they were like already in that mindset of like oh I feel distracted I'm trying to find out how distracted I am oh then K offers some ways of helping you be mindful
the conversion rate is generally pretty low right because people come coming for this one thing and you're reaching potentially a very mainstream audience um so that's why you kind of need scale like it's almost like you need to get millions of users to then capture a very small portion of it in order for it to be successful
subscription services and the App Store allowing in app purchases without that it would have been very hard to make calm work
I was just lucky because I'd be meditating for a long time so I was I knew the benefits of meditation and um had been thinking about this idea with my co-founder Michael for a long time um but I think we picked the moment right I think timing is important
when you invested we probably had 100,000 a year or something or maybe less um now we're doing like many many millions of dollars so you made a good investment
there's this great app called Cal you can download and helps you meditate um and like this is important because when you're in a very relaxed state of mind you're more likely to have um ideas come up bubble up
it's very much a hit or miss kind of strategy it's very high reward but it's very you know it's potentially low probability of success ... it's low cost it's worth trying
the icing on the cake which was totally out of like the blue as to surprise was Steven coar ... talking about czechy for three minutes ... we had an ad at the end ... of the 650,000 downloads we got for it we got 50,000 thousand downloads for Cal ... this is something that took one day to build ... it was basically like 50,000 free users which could cost you $50,000 $100,000 if you had to pay for it
do nothing for 2 minutes was a minimum viral product ... we captured 100,000 emails for c ... it tested almost sentiment Market fit and that gave us the impetus to start Cal and we had those 100,000 emails
if you get into the nine ten which say calm or uber or thumbtack or wealthfront or Robin in all of those companies and Tesla and app will all have nines and tens when people say how likely are you to recommend this product to one of your friends
it's going to wind up being I think one of my top five investments after uber Robin Hood wealthfront and thumbtack I think it's going to be like the fifth and who knows if it will catch up to any of those
I had been an investor in calm calm when nobody believed in it and they were charging I think 10 bucks a year now they charge 10 bucks a month everybody I know is using it and I I can't say the amount of revenue but it's it's a hit I see it everywhere it's staggering it's staggering they're in the top 100 of paid apps they're making money hand over fist and it's a very small operation still so it's massively profitable and it's going to wind up being I think one of my top five investments after
we charge four hundred twelve hundred dollars to make tours for high-end homes we do this because we make a nice 60 percent margin but also it's because how we're growing our service fighter Network we launched in January and this is how we're doing by this time next year so twelve months we'll be doing about 5,000 tours and 1.5 in revenue
Moore's law pushes VR out into everybody's living room and VR really is a better way to buy a home we're the number one real estate app on oculus rift store already today we're the number two on Samsung gear
the hardest of all eight companies to demo because you can't just hand out VR headsets to everybody do I show them this it's too jumpy when I'm standing up here when the the VC ask me a question and I answer yes like the whole world is moving right up and down it's very jarring so this is the hardest of all the things to demo and it's come a long way it's is fantastic I have no bad feedback all the things that people asked the couple of times when I was in there he just kind of casually goes oh
the hardest of all eight companies to demo because you can't just hand out VR headsets to everybody do I show them this it's too jumpy when I'm standing up here when the the VC ask me a question and I answer yes like the whole world is moving right up and down it's very jarring so this is the hardest of all the things to demo and it's come a long way it's is fantastic I have no bad feedback
when I saw calm calm I looked at what Alex built and the fact that he was able to get the domain name calm calm and the site was beautiful and it was considered
they've been very material in terms of opening doors for partnerships even in the hiring process
we were able to you know raise on great terms you know not just a great valuation but great terms
we've got a lot of data science going on behind the scenes to optimize stories
calm ultimately we want to become Nike for the mind
sleep has been a growth a huge part of our growth story in the last couple of years
we have over a million paying subscribers
we did 2.3 million in 2015 we did 7 million in 2016 we did 22 million last year and this year we'll do 80 so we've been still growing yes super quickly in next year definitely north of a hundred million
for the last you know couple years we've been cashflow positive
the valuation of the last round being yeah 250 million
the other last three years have been just insane
the content the product the engineering and and also just building more momentum like we were starting to get some attention from Apple from customers like there's a strong organic component so the flywheel was beginning to turn in 2014 2015
in 2014 we did a few hundred grand in revenue and then the following year we did 2.3 million so it was like really you know fast like a 5x or something for 5x
we got an email from this lady called Tamara Levitt who's based in Toronto saying she wanted to be our community manager and we actually saw that what she could do the content she's an amazing meditation teacher and the community management is great but like why not be the voice of calm and so that was a total pivotal moment too
hiring a brilliant CTO that was that was it was tough to attract engineers to work on comm because it just was so far outside of you know water typically seen as like interesting challenges for most engineers and and so finally convinced a friend of mine Ben Ben darling to join us CTO and that was a pivotal moment
raising the prices was definitely one
I think Apple picked us I think we've made a great product but also I think they were trying to send a message that you can use the phone for good good things
we can do that by teaching these you know these skills and we can do it where people are at which is on their phones right like the you know people are looking at the phone so why don't we use that platform to create something that actually can be
the idea with comm was to really make a product and a brand that people could relate to in this busy modern world create something almost cool you know make it accessible contemporary have beautiful design don't use kind of crazy religious or overtly spiritual language
I thought if I could create a website you know maybe they would could go to it and learn to meditate in a really kind of simple way
I feel like you saw something in the market
we paid 140 thousand dollars
my next guest has been the highest performing entrepreneur in our portfolio of late and that's a portfolio that includes uber Rob hood wealthfront just top metal and a lot of Trello and a bunch of other companies that have hit it out of the park
we have done a deal on seed invest for inside calm
with calm calm to see German people now finally using the app and they've translated into the first language I get the hold deja vu all over again I just everywhere I go people bring up calm calm calm calm calm calm and Robin Hood Robin Hood Robin Hood people are just all over the world using both of those products
I think that as long as you're here some period of time but it will go faster I mean there aren't a lot of investors there so your valuation will be 50% to double here in the valley so I would camp out here I'd have an office here and have two or three people here and then it'd have 20 people in Toronto
if you just abscond with the money and go to Canada you might then have 28 months to figure it out and you can just fly down here once in a while it's a it's a major major hack
I do know a lot of startup founders who want to come to America are stopping in Canada first and I have one company in my portfolio that moved to Canada after Trump was elected because they wanted to have the benefit of raising money from American investors and deploying it in a market where they could hire people more freely and it's worked really well for them I think their what would have been 18 months of runway became 40 months of runway they told me so
what would you pay for a developer with five years experience in Canada in Canadian dollars ATK in October on occasion Canadian dollar 70,000 Canadian which I think is I think it'd be about 25 percent less or 20 percent less in US dollars
you'll face lower cost of doing business and you'll be able to operate quietly
I would suspect more often than not Canadians and Americans consumer and enterprise behavior is almost exact
it is a great idea to test it in Canada first because nobody will notice and steal your idea or even know you're operating most Americans operate in a state of ignorance to the rest of the world
in the example of calm you have a team that was very focused and who wanted to grow the business and they publicly talked about it doing 80 million dollars a year in revenue run rate
we invested three hundred seventy eight thousand dollars out of five million dollar valuation it's a sixty or seventy million dollar position now
I had Alex from calm on my podcast and nobody would invest income and I was like that makes total sense to me that it will work sure meditation and you're on your iPod I use it all the time exactly and we invested three hundred seventy eight thousand dollars out of five million dollar valuation it's a sixty or seventy million dollar position now there you go and you know what the founder said to me we would not be here if you hadn't made that investment cuz nobody wanted to invest at the time cu
the right investors have invested in companies that have five thousand dollars a month in revenue like calm calm did when we invested and it's our job to envision it going a hundred X to five hundred thousand and then watching that number go 10x and then 10x again which is what happened with come back on them over 100 million in revenue according to press reports and what they've said publicly
I was much more likely to back uber or Robin Hood or calm or cafe acts or blockable
I actually don't find any of the experiences compelling because I have the $2,000 version and it's still not compelling to me
I actually think this is DOA
by switching to this platform we're no you know switching to the photonics platform to solve a lot of these problems we're avoiding having to you know sort of squeeze squeeze this sort of juice box that's already empty
open a I just released this short blog post last year and the size of the largest model is double it being published in AI literature is doubling every three point five months
the spring is this the spring in our opinion is dried out we're hitting fundamental limits of what we can do what we can do with AI
the next closest thing on the market is something on something depending on which metric you're looking at anywhere from 100 X to 1,000 X worse both you know on energy efficiency on latency and the amount of data that you can push through on the energy per operation
we've managed TV to be the same as our other channels
awareness for a mobile app is a little bit questionable to me because you know would you rather people be aware of calm or would you rather have a user of calm
I really didn't like the billboard I put it up there just because it stands out and in kind of a crazy way and we didn't do enough billboard to know whether it would affect the business
it's probably about number three or four in our and our volume stack
we use amplitude for a be test monitoring and we have our own a/b test system built in so that it's modeled after facebook's a/b test system where you can drop any individual user in whatever a be test you want
we use apps flyer so apps flyer is our attribution vendor
we have our own devices database so everyone that opens com we save we know which of them create accounts and which of them take purchase actions and so when we have a device ID that matches an account creation to an ops flier ID that matches source data we can tie that account all future actions in revenue back to that
we do do Google UIC it's probably about number three or four in our and our volume stack but we don't get a lot of transparency from them so you don't actually control your links they don't tell you a lot about what they do and so even if they perform well we're a little bit suspicious that they're gaming attribution and we're not actually getting what we're paying what we think we're paying for all the time
we use a lot of stock video in our ads
I found this ad and I had no shame cloning it
they are doing some new things now that we are copying and are working very well
their strategy was to clone calm so their their app is a clone of calm and their ads are clones of ours
Pinterest and Twitter just straight up don't work for us
I actually love remnant TV
we don't do traditional TV because it's priced in kind of an insane way
calm is much much higher and we're happy to be there
if I have an LTV CAC goal of two hundred and fifty percent I can see there's a lot of things I need to cut back on and a few things that I can scale up like crazy because they're very efficient
for us the more questions we have the more people we lose we like a one page conversion experience if possible
we have a whole system that says it that captures the users information so slike actually tracks the revenue that is generated from them and then does that device matching on the backend so whenever someone opens our app we have both the attribution the attribution database as well as our own internal database so that we can tie the internal logins and purchases back to the attribution source database
we actually the need for this is much higher at calm than other companies because we don't have we have that event pixel that happens when they start a free trial but you can't trigger an event clearly for when that trial converts into a purchase that happens on the backend
we've been doing this for a while where a major scale we have this view for every single ad that we're running
in the history of the company we've run twenty five thousand different targeting ad variations
our target is two hundred and fifty dollars what we currently did for this zero week time period $43 cost per purchase it's likely to bake to around two hundred and fifty dollars our two hundred and fifty percent LTV CAC so we know that we can double down on that strategy
if we're not able to apply a customer acquisition cost model to it we're super we're super reluctant to it we you know we're very conservative
getting attribution wrong is as costly as getting LTV wrong
now two three years down the line of having good attribution and LTV tracking we have curves for every single person that comes in on day one
we used a conservative Universal LTV model across everything as we learned more as we broke things out by what product they purchased what region they're in what platform they were on we were able to learn more about the unique behaviors of those platforms
at calm when I joined we've literally do we had two sales prices they were the same throughout the whole world it was a monthly end of yearly we treated everyone exactly the same because we didn't have a lot of data about them
at comm we have dozens of competitors now probably hundreds if I'm not directly aware of and if we're not always watching what they're doing we're gonna miss out on major growth opportunities and we will be eclipsed
I joined about two years ago as the first marketing hire since then I think we've grown about 20x
I have been getting great sleep because I use calm I stay calm I do my meditation during the day and I do my sleep escapes and my sleep stories at night and this library of programming that they put together is amazing it's just what your brain and your mind and your body needs soundscapes are amazing these are just beautiful sounds that will gently whisk you to sleep like the rain or the river or the beaches and the wind blowing it's so beautiful
I invested when they had 10,000 a month who had that peace of mind nobody did I bought six or seven percent of the company for three hundred seventy eight thousand dollars ... it'll be a bigger return than uber in my portfolio
I'm obviously investor in the company and love the founders they're in the team they've done such an amazing job forty million people have now downloaded calm and it was apples twenty seventeen half of the year so find out what that calm calm slash twist it's an amazing product get some sleep you're gonna need it
the defense ability comes from being able to understand that and being able to offer a true solution for building a great workplace environment bullying a place that will attract and retain talent
the partnership with calm you know this is not just a commoditized knockoff product this is something that that makes an impact on health and wellness in the office and it's it's a it's a brand and a company that stands for something
the innovation for us is not just the product but it is the entire experience around it right so it is the seamless purchase experience the delivery the you know we have really high NPS that's it's actually really hard to do if you have if you're trying to buy something on Alibaba
yeah they nobody believed in that product yeah and somebody wrote on Quora well Jason Calacanis was $400,000 investing in common I like wrote my rebuttal I was like Phil Jackson got Kobe and Shaq to do meditation and Sam Harris is studying it at UCLA I think it's I think it could be meditation and mindfulness could work it's important
we were the first investors in calm calm congratulations that worked I know yeah yeah well I've know I've just been following the business because they have just done incredibly well very scrappy marketing team very wonderful product great subscription business
bigger than the internet and bigger than the silicon chip being you know CPU is being created I think it's more comparable to to the the advent of computing than it is to the advent of the internet
I think we fundamentally view AI and machine learning as kind of a once in a once a generation shift in technology might be once in a species by the way
over the first five years of the company it's less than our annual we spent less than our annual rent now
I worry about founders today because of how much noise there is around the expectations of how quickly things should happen... in 2009 2010 our goal was to just build a great product and survive as long as it took to get it to really click and take off and there was much less of this like sort of like FOMO and pressure and I don't think we could have figured it out if we were starting today
I would I bet it breaks down by age yeah and there's price some cutoff I my guess is it's in the 30s yeah maybe early 40s now we're you know like you'll use the phone to call mom but everybody else gets a text
because at the end of the day were a chat product you connect with pros to have a conversation to schedule to sort of work with and chatting on your phone is super natural
originally you know we started with a website and then it had to be sort of mobile optimized but then about sort of two three years ago which in some sense was late yeah to the party we realized that you know mobile was where all of our best customers were going that's where our best engagement was
the big frontier for us is getting really detailed availability... but availability and getting sort of real-time availability is sort of the next frontier for us such that we can turn it into a sort of an instant book experience
my top three companies are over 90% of my returns that's out of 200 companies let that sink in at the end of the day my career is going to be made by uber calm Robin Hood thumbtack data stacks wealthfront probably that cohort desktop metal
no it was you know I was lucky because I was working with Jeremy Levine and so he at that point I mean he had already done I think LinkedIn and Yelp and so he understood he had the standing yeah yeah and so generally Conte it was our 'full yeah and that was actually the thesis which was that we had had a bessemer a lot of success with user-generated sites yelp LinkedIn in social commerce was one of those spaces where I you know we had also done a bunch of companies in the commerce space diapers.
this shows the the real opportunity for having people different than a bunch of white leads from Stanford it was they didn't see it did they it was the moment I realized like it was it was the last first moment that I realized that being a woman could be an edge you know because like an adventurer you're always looking for an unfit your own unfair advantage and your unfair advantage can come from the operating experience you had where you really understand a space it can come from just diving de
I feel that with Pinterest I mean when I when I was you know we did the series a for Pinterest when I was at Bessemer and I yes and it was for an image board it was a yes it was a very you know it's a four or five person company at the time like it was it was misunderstood by everybody in the valley like we you know I was an early user of the product I just loved it from the first time I used the product and and I loved it so much and I just was watching it on you know Alexa tracker which was th
I had just neva had just given me the URL of Angel Co / Jason slash syndicate hey so check this out and I said what's a syndicate and he said well and he explained it to me like SPV and I'm like what's an SP v how does that work I was like alright well I'll just tweet it so I tweeted it and like 300 people join my syndicate and then I told Alex of commas like have the syndicate I'll put 50k in the round from my little ten million dollar Micro Fund that's me and my poker buddies and friends and I
like with Alex and Michael from comm it's just like mm-hmm really all right yeah I'm like wait that's the monthly number of the quarterly number that's the monthly number that that's a month wait there's more money in the bank account this month and there was last month we're not we have not let's heard of that I'm like wait a second we're building up a war chest night but that was only for Apple like what is going on here I'm for calm yeah they've done an amazing job
the first time I ever did one of these in SPV you know what it was for calm calm the meditation and that worked out really well
I mean Rafi's and calm a terrific examples of that
I was the third investor in uber because I just come in hot you know I'm coming in hot my first time in the room noticed there's 200 LPS in the room I gather I'm the third investor in uber I invested in Robin Hood uber thumbtack data stacks and this calm column for a thirty million dollar valuation yeah combined
we believe it'll be the first mental health IPO public company and so we're super excited about taking this one all the way
engagement went out 3x retention really improved and the company is now in this terrific spot where they've got a huge amount of content on the app customers are loving it best-in-class retention though the annual numbers are better than anything else we've seen a consumer subscription well and it's just such a good business it's just very stable CAC has been consistent for many years
the company has really double down on innovation R&D and they're constantly reinventing themselves coming up with the next new thing
when I'm putting money into Calm and they're doing at that time, I think they had $10,000 in total revenue. I really don't, I mean, back in those days, I wasn't doing really any diligence. I was just saying, I like this company. I like the founder. I've used the product and we weren't doing like too much diligence, but as we started to put in 500 K a million dollars, now we started putting somebody on it
Insight Ventures wants to talk to Calm.
So, in both these cases, they have been tremendous returns for us.
Now is that directly competitive with comp? No. But does calm have sleep stories? Yes. So they have sleep story for kids? Yes. Do they do massage? No. And what that does is it actually helps me with the calm team because now I've got investments that if they want to do an acquisition later, okay, you know, maybe these two companies could come together
Now, you look at something like calm.com or clubhouse, you know, they can go into another market and even localize into another language so quickly because there's all these third-party tools and infrastructure.
the number two investment we ever made was calm was the first syndicate we ever did, and they charged and they used to charge $10 for the app one time, then subscriptions came out. And because of subscriptions, consumers are now very delighted to pay monthly or yearly a subscription for 60 to $300 a year, if they're getting value from it, I believe I prefer the consumer subscriptions, I'll tell you why I think it makes people more focused on providing extraordinary value.
when we got to our fund one we owned um i think now we own two percent of superhuman uh five percent of calm five or maybe six percent of density
robin hood that happened calm that happened and uh superhuman that happened so we we had four unicorns come out of the first launch fund
I was like, yeah, he's an investor too Like he's gonna make a lot of money off of calm like It's definitely happened.
That in the entire six years of being an investor in that company's like lebron james uses calm
lebron in my portfolio Invested in and became a spokesperson for calm calm And I can tell you I had more people come to me in that month to talk about calm
I saw that also with our investment in calm. Yeah. When they went, you know, they, they owned a meditation, but they also then started to own the sleep portion of that.
That's why I invested in the company. I thought that this company could change the world. And I am so happy to see calm doing that every day.
An example would be meditation apps calm and headspace got millions of people to pay for meditation apps. The total addressable market for meditation apps before those two apps existed was $0.10 years ago, nobody was paying for meditation apps. Now, you have probably 10 million or 20 million people paying for all the different meditation apps out there. They induced that market to exist.
Millions of employees at over 600 companies like Lincoln, Iterable and Universal Studios use calm for business. Obviously, you guys know I'm an investor in calm. I've loved the product forever. And I've always wondered what are they going to get into the enterprise? Well, here they are.
you know, just basis points in Uber, but we own five or 6% of calm. So that shows you when you own 5% of something worth two or 3 billion, you know, and you own 10 basis points or 20 base points of whatever, of something that's, you know, 100 billion, you can have slightly similar outcomes
Some companies like Webflow, Bubble, Calm.com, Notion have skipped rounds of funding. And we were involved in Calm.com. And we watched them skip two rounds of funding, three rounds of funding. And that meant our percentage ownership along with the founders was very high, because we didn't dilute. And then as a company came worth and worth more and more, we didn't have to put up a bunch of pro rata, we didn't have to keep investing to keep our percentage ownership. And that was amazing for everyb
they did research and studies this was released if we were to talk to the founder and they're certainly invited to come on uh next monday to talk with sandeep and i um so shout out to the founder come on i would
other than meditation and equanimity and you know help and and there's science that's been done at ucla and other places the mindfulness center at ucla has a lot of research and thoughtfulness around uh using uh meditation for things like ptsd or lowering anxiety etc said another way thoughtfulness
So we sold 24% of our position going up that had nothing to do with our belief in the business of the founders. It just had to do with the fact that, well, 50 X, how often do you get a 50 X and you have the ability to sell some of it and lock in a 50 X and then do it again at, you know, man, 200 X.
We had an opportunity to sell another 10% of our position. Another, I think we sold $11 million of our position, uh, $12 million in our position when it hit a billion change. And I took that opportunity.
we invested at calm as an example at 5 million. We had the opportunity to sell 10% of our position at 250. It was like a 40 some odd X, you know, 50 X. I took that opportunity to sell 10% of our position.
And then when I've got people emailing me saying, Hey, can you introduce me to Vlad from Robinhood? Or, Hey, I'm my wife, uh, my daughter, my cousin, my son is using calm, uh, and they love it. Can you introduce me to Alex and Michael from calm? You know, like you, you start getting those kinds of inbounds from really top tier investors, or they want to talk to you about it.
Uber, Robinhood, Calm are amongst the ones that I've hit that have gone supernova. In fact, Uber is considered the greatest investment over the last decade or two in Silicon Valley. Robinhood, you know, doing fantastic as well. And Calm, not yet public, but another great company.
We're going to sell a lot of eight sleeps and a lot of calm meditation apps.
calm was the number one app of the year. According to apple, they gave it the app of the year, not just health, but overall
The people who are super breakouts probably don't need to come to the pod, right? So Uber, Robinhood, calm, they're not coming to a pod. You know, they, they, they figured it out. They have escape velocity.
And then I think after that, it was, you know, multiple billions. So when you look at that trajectory, they skipped multiple rounds of financing, which means the founders own a lot more of the company and my original six or 7%. My 6% ownership or whatever was didn't get diluted all that much. So I still own four or 5% of that company. It's amazing.
So we saw with calm calm they raised money in the first round, when we put in 378,000, I believe. Sometimes you don't forget those numbers when it's a big win, put 378,000 when it was a $5 million company or so, then they let some friends in to invest at 20. And then the next round of funding was at 250. The next round, if that was 1.2 billion.
now for calm what was the market for a meditation app before calm existed uh and headspace their competitor there really was no market for it meditation was this weird thing you did if you lived in santa monica and like some churches and basements or rec centers or a yoga studio on the weekends might have one or two meditation classes or there were you know five thousand dollar you know courses you could take it wasn't something that was in the general perception of the public and sure you could
Calm for business can help your employees to be their best selves at work. And there is no better time to start fresh than in the new year. Calm wants to help you kickstart your mental wellbeing initiatives, like empowering employees to stress less and to get them to rest better and to build mental resilience. Calm has a library of specifically designed content that includes lo-fi music playlists, quick breathing breaks, guided meditations, and hundreds of soothing sleep stories. So you can glid
I had, you know, Alex from calm over to play tennis at my house. And, you know, we were just talking for hours, you know, like, from the morning until the night. And you know, the conversation never ends.
Famously, when I invested in calm, they had $10,000 in revenue, I think total to date, and they were charging $10 for the app. So they had sold 1000 people on paying $10 for meditation. And for me, that was like, great, if you can sell 1000, you can sell a million. And here we are, that company's worth, you know, billions of dollars, and we own five or 6% of it.
when I was putting 50 K in launch fund one into calm, he said, you know, you could share that with the syndicate.
And, you know, that fund hit calm and Robin Hood and, you know, a bunch of other, you know, corns and it did very well. It will historically do very well.
calm had a very simple product in the App Store making, I think $10 per sale and they had sold 1000 copies of it. And it was very simple and basic and they had met with 40 venture capitalists and professional investors and nobody would invest in it.
Uber and calm at four and 5 million, okay, maybe, you know, those should have been $10 million valuations, but they should not have been $50 million valuations or $40 million valuations
I am so proud to be an investor in this amazing company. And now six, seven years later to have them sponsor the podcast. I'm so proud and it just warms my heart. 40 million people have downloaded Calm. And as you know, because I've said it a hundred times, it was Apple's 2017 app of the year. What an amazing honor.
We have an investment in brilliant.org, which is doing brilliant. It's education. We have Calm, FitBod, Steezy, and ToneBase. All five consumer subscriptions. Calm doing $160 million a year.
we we look to pair our position uh when we're 10 20 30 40 x by just 10 percent and uh we did that with calm at 250 and then a billion and change on that 378 000 investment i wound up selling 20 of our position i think it wound up being about 12 or 13 million in total between those two transactions like a million at the first one and 12 at the second
