i really really hope the iphone is on verizon as well that would be that would be the best january for instant paper i think anything that expands ios's market share is great for all developers of ios and certainly being on verizon would be a very very good thing for all of us
If you want to have video out there in the world that anybody sees, you pretty much have to agree to whatever YouTube dictates.
And you can compare it to something like YouTube, where if you want to make video that matters at all today, it has to be on YouTube, basically. And so that you have this one company, this one platform, controlling the, by far, like the majority of this really important medium.
Apple has been the directory of choice. And Apple still has the largest app to consume podcasts. But they have really been fairly benevolent in their ruling of podcasts. They've really taken a very light hand to it and have really embraced and empowered the open ecosystem as much as they really could. So this one company having this massive share hasn't really been a problem for us.
not at all because i don't plan to support them at all and you're like ipad or die
you don't hear regular people saying oh i can't wait for the galaxy to come out
i don't plan to support them at all and you're like ipad or die right it's a similar question as supporting android
all of the windows 7 ones are going to be after 2011. so i think that the samsung galaxy is the only one that uh we're hopefully going to get here get to play around with it and be able to do it you know contrast and compare and that's definitely a big plus for the guys because they get to have this big push
chrome os is useful useless but getting it on the ipad and all the limitations that have to come with that just seems like someone got bored
who buys a you know 500 plus device and then i'm just gonna put chrome on it and make it almost useless
the ipad and ios in general is really terrible for multiple user management and so anytime you you have families now who keep fighting over the ipad to play plants versus zombies on their account or or even just if more than when people want to read mail in the mail app you need two ipads for that and i think that's it's convenient for apple i don't think it's planned to for them to not support multiple users but i think they're conveniently leading it that way because it's going to sell a lot m
not at all because i don't plan to support them at all and you're like ipad or die
i suspect that has probably sold more ipads than any other app including apple's apps

the integration with uh mobile safari really and i think it's a great hindrance to instapaper... it's the biggest source of people giving up... apple definitely improved that but um there's a number of changes we can make so far that would make it easier it couldn't be much harder but the problem is that it's such a such a relatively small use case... i i suspect it's never going to be a high enough priority for apple to actually fix
there are certain limitations in the api and not being able to call private methods anymore... but as part of your visa system from apple's perspective they had to do this because so many apps would misuse private methods... i think it makes sense with the ecosystem i'm not saying it's a mistake on apple's part i know why it's there
my biggest gripe was really the nda that that covered it for the first uh eight month or so because we can't talk to other developers... but they lifted the nda and so that was really my biggest complaint and that that's now gone
i think at first we definitely saw them stumbling over some of those but it's certainly gotten better in recent recent months
well it's certainly gotten a lot better they've really fixed a lot of the problems with it and with the recent publishing document about their guidelines that certainly helps a little bit on the venus side that said apparently there are issues whenever you're reviewing apps
i really didn't care much about it the lack of openness on apple's part or anything else i really just wanted offline access on the iphone
the app store didn't exist there was no sdk yet so i was doing all sorts of hacks to try to get mobile safari to keep as much in ram as possible
