you need someone that's like a dictator and can be a tyrant and can pick up through sh sheer will of force and move an entire organization
that organization is incapable of releasing product
the biggest loss that Yahoo just had was losing Blake Irving
to kill your product team which is the source of your Innovation is insane to me
I'm a fan of Amazon right but Amazon not paying taxes and everybody's ordering from that it makes no sense
pay your taxes this is the greatest country in the world don't complain pay your taxes whether you're Amazon or Airbnb or anybody just pay your goddamn taxes okay you don't get to Skirt the Rules just because you think that you're somehow different because of Technology ... Airbnb is absolutely competing head-on with hotels right there's no reason they shouldn't pay a tax
they want to come out with products that when they're 50 years old and 60 years old people go those guys were like Edison those guys were like jobs they are playing for legacy
I think what Google wants to be is Apple you know they now that they've done so much it's sort of like a what's next moment
why are they doing this it's the same thing with the self-driving cars when are we going to have them are they just doing this for PR and to be in the news and to make people love them yes I me I think I think this is definitely a PR video as opposed to a we have this product coming out looked for at Christmas 2012 I mean there's no date on it and they even said very explicitly like this is a teaser we don't even know if the final product will be exactly like this we're putting this out there ju
I agree I love the idea that're thin margin business I mean they have very help but look at Apple they're giving a dividend I mean so you know Google is doing what Apple should be doing which is instead of giving a dividend try to do some Throw Some Hell marry passes if self-driving cars work or these goggles work those are 50 billion 100 billion 200 billion the dividend no it's a total complete disaster I mean that basically signals to the market that you've run out of ideas
I predict 20 years from now 30 years only old people know that they started in search
those guys are absolutely obsessed with Legacy and changing the world now ... they are playing for legacy
Google is got some really amazing futur looking products out there and I think what Google wants to be is Apple
I emailed Sergey and was like dude this is incredible if this is one if this is 25% of what showed in the commercial it's pretty impressive
this to me it's just the I would call it the beginning of where we're going but it's probably another 5 10 15 years out before this becomes a ubiquitous part of our Behavior
I think anything that's pushing the boundaries and Cutting Edge is going to freak some people out ... I think it's a leading indicator of success future success
from our Peak this year we're off 40% on traffic and that sucks and I'm frustrated and like you I wish 60% off I I wish that there were more clear rules to find so that we could know what to do that's that said we still get almost 20 million people a month that come to Doc stock
they want to own the search from the query box to the end page and keep the economics
the SEO game is clearly over
the Google search ecosystem doesn't work anymore it's flooded
I don't feel I can trust Google anymore
Jason and I Jason Nar and I were at the Google LA office opening yesterday oh yeah I forgot to go to that and quite impressive really large building the binocular building M office office yeah and they had signs inside that were like idea week December 1 through whatever and come and bring your ideas and if you want to launch something new and that kind of thing so it's it was also very much like a recruiting effort
the screen is a thousand times better than the iPhones and it's huge and the Android operating system right now in my estimation is 80% of the iPhone operating system the apps are probably 50% but what that tells me is if the hardware here is so with the new OS Android OS yesterday aesome the hardware here is so awesome compared to the iPhone's hardware and it's so light I mean take a look at that thing it's unbelievable it's really Android the battery in it though right does have the battery ye

I guess the fairness ER is that Apple even though it's a very tightly controlled garden they're very upfront from the beginning whether or not they're going to let you in
Google is losing all of its search or social features those are all going into Google+
the new interface for searching you're not actually going to Google anymore they're hijacking the input to search this is the canon ball across the bow of uh Google
instead of giving their kids riddle and they just give him an iPod touch I mean it literally is the ADHD medicine of this generation here play Angry Birds better than taking a narcotic
the iPhone 3G whatever s is free now with a activation
Apple will be coming out with a 7 inish tablet I understand which will be smaller than the iPad obviously bigger than the iPhone like and they're all going to go to zero with data plans all of them will be zero with data plans when the iPad goes to zero these games are going to explode
you look like a huge dork when you talk to a computer that's why people don't like it
the new interface for searching you're not actually going to Google anymore they're hijacking the input to search this is the canon ball across the bow of uh Google
he likes to push some technology that nobody else could commercialize
Groupon didn't sell now you have well shark media getting an investment uh for couponing
Twitter didn't sell to uh Google and now they are getting this treatment
Twitter pushes out developers
I was told by an Insider that if they were a hotel in New York City they would be larger than the top five hotels put together
I think overall they handled it just fine I mean it's The Growing Pains of growing a company I mean they've got so many people using it you know what it's at some point this is bound to happen and there's no way they can realistically prevent any damage or fraud and happening in people's homes
Google Plus is a serious overhang on a stock like LinkedIn
it's no different than what any other business would do if if a large company sees a value prop in what a smaller company's doing and the smaller company doesn't want to sell to the bigger company the bigger company has every right to get into that game
they just scraped Twitter and it was worthless
the problem that Google had with Twitter is that they were just scraping the syntactic text off of Twitter what they really need to do is take the bitly links take the shortened links and semantically analyze them the way they analyze any other link then incorporate those into realtime search instead of just the the the 140 characters of text that show up on Twitter it's the links that are being shared that are the actual real time news that Google wants to explore and for some reason they never
they were doing things like scraping Craigslist and you know sort of borderline stuff we reported on earlier which I really didn't have a problem with
I think they're going to attract that kind of a market
it's a so much a better user experience I mean night and day difference
I will say that this is the best thing that could ever happen to this company
I was told by an Insider that if they were a hotel in New York City they would be larger than the top five hotels put together okay how many hotels how many hotel rooms get completely trashed if this is even representative yeah let's say there there were a hundred interest uh incidents like this that went unreported from a proportional standpoint I'd say they're doing a pretty good job
their guarantee makes me feel more comfortable renting out my place or wanting to go to other places and you know what if you look at what they did versus BP I mean BP is a huge company with billions of dollars and still really never made like Mia CA like we take full responsibility and these guys did and I give them a lot of credit for it
I think maybe they were a little slow to react but I I think overall they handled it just fine I mean it's The Growing Pains of growing a company I mean they've got so many people using it you know what it's at some point this is bound to happen and there's no way they can realistically prevent any damage or fraud and happening in people's homes
I would say social is definitely a way people want to search but I wouldn't be thinking this is going to dramatically change the way people are using Google anytime in the short term
I think there's a product consumers want in Social search I think if you look historically at these kind of experiments Google have tried they never become a predominant way that people really leverage and use the web
docs is a wildly successful product that I think has people at Microsoft you know admittedly worried about the migration of people's user behavior
the problem I've seen is there's a lot of Publishers I know that have all original content and they've been penalized where other people that have spam content are ranking now above them
I think that they have uh a lot of people throw out a lot of conspiracy theories like oh if you have AdSense it's better I the one thing I can say is I think Google has very good intent and it's just going to take him a while to figure out how to get it right
I think for the most part they try to figure out how to make the best search results for everybody and when you get a large portion of that traffic you're bound to get hit I think for the most part they've been good about responding
if you look historically at these kind of experiments Google have tried they never become a predominant way that people really leverage and use the web
