We have Canva at SpaceX in our portfolios because I worked at Founders Fund and I ran $500. We're not usually buying those assets direct. And, you know, the top 20 names are in extreme demand, lots of people who want to buy those things. Generally, they're not available. So you're buying them at a premium, usually in SPVs, maybe even multilayered SPVs with lots of carry and fees. They're great companies if you can get them. But sometimes the structure and price is excessive.
there's certainly a pretty active marketplace for individual company secondary uh whether that's forge or equity zen which was a 500 startup's portfolio company uh and others but there's not a lot of places to go find uh fund secondary positions or lp and gp positions

I think that's been an issue for Facebook in the past and for Twitter right now is you know figuring out what's the core service that the platform makes money on right because offering a great feature set or even a great feature set and distribution can be you know a challenge for the ecosystem to understand you know what can they do and not do and when is the platform going to step on them
they said here are some areas where we think there's a lot of openness in the offering and they would you know if they started to want to encroach on an area which is naturally going to happen in a platform a community they would tip people off well in advance
I had sold my company to Salesforce and got to see it from the inside that I thought they were particularly or we were particularly effective at is we would do a one-year roadmap we did do a two-year road map but a one year that was pretty baked yeah and we knew where our gaps were relative to competition so we would regularly go out to the community and say if you want to fill anything in these gaps we're not likely to do it for okay
